Thousands of people all over the world are using hypnosis to change their lives for the better. You can be one of them! Separate the facts from fiction and decide to succeed at the speed of thought.
Many people only know hypnosis through TV portrayals or stage shows where someone is in a state of mind control, forced to do something against their will, or made to cluck like a chicken. These images cannot be farther from the facts. Hypnosis is a medically accepted health and wellness program.
Hypnosis can be utilized to achieve many lifestyle changes and even to cope with chronic pain and fatigue.
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis can be thought of as an altered state of awareness, or a state of focused attention. It is a means of communicating with the subconscious mind.
HOW DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?
Hypnosis allows the hypnotist to communicate with the client's subconscious mind. When the client is in a state of deep relaxation the subconscious mind comes to the forefront. The subconscious mind is then given suggestions that you have requested. The subconscious mind begins to assimilate these suggestions and make them a part of the client's behaviors, thought processes and actions.
WHO HAS ENDORSED HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis has been endorsed by the American Medical Association as an adjunct to medical care since 1958. Hypnosis has also been endorsed by the National Institute of Health (NIH) as a means to deal with stress, the Joint Commission for Health Care Organizations(JACHO). Blue Shield of California conducted a study showing quicker recovery, less nausea and vomiting and less pain when using hypnotic techniques 2-3 weeks before surgery.
WHAT HYPNOSIS IS NOT!
CAN THE HYPNOTIST CONTROL A SUBJECTS MIND?
Of course not! Each of us has free will. The client is free to disregard any suggestions that the hypnotist gives. Hypnosis is not mind control. The client is in total control at all times.
IS HYPNOSIS MAGIC?
No hypnosis is actually based on sound medical and psychological fundamentals?
WILL I BE UNCONSCIOUS?
Hypnosis is not a loss of consciousness or sleep. The client can hear the ambient sounds around them but is too comfortable to be bothered by them. The client can speak to the hypnotist at any time. Some people think that they must have a sense of sleeping and be unable to hear any ambient sounds to be hypnotized. This can't be farther from the truth.
